THOUBAL, May 6: State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today visited several sites in Thoubal district where infrastructural development projects are to be taken up.
Accompanied by Education minister Moirangthem Okendro Singh, Wangjing Tentha MLA P Brojen, officials of departments concerned, Manipur Police Housing Corporation chief architect, MDS project director and others, the Chief Minister visited the site for the Food Corporation of India godown at Tangjeng, Thoubal.
The CM and his team also assess the site for the mega Tourist Centre coming up at the Khongjom War memorial Complex at Khongjom.
The FCI godown to be constructed will hold 2500 metric tonne of rice grain.
It is part of the government’s plan to construct one such godown in all districts.
It may be mentioned that Union minister Palam Raju had recently inaugurated one such godown at Senapati district.
The visit to the Tangjeng site was followed by an inspection of the Wangbal site for the upcoming government polytechnic to be constructed by the engineering cell of the state Education department.
The Chief Minister and his team also inspected the site for the Mega Tourist Centre at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex.
Highly reliable sources have informed that the mega tourist centre is one such three centres developed in the state and will be developed at an approx. cost of Rs 22 crore.
Under the project, a direct approach road from National Highway 102 to Khebaching will be constructed to be used as the only entry point to the centre, while the old road will be used as the only exit point from the centre.
It is also said that the structure constructed on top of the Khebaching will be clearly visible from the approach road.
The Chief Minister’s team also inspected the nearby Phungdrei Hill for the construction of a water body which will be part of the Mega Tourist Centre.
Later, the team visited the Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex and inspected the ongoing construction work at the complex.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh instructed the engineers concerned to expedite work on the remaining part of the main gallery which is at the eastern side of the complex.
