IMPHAL, May 9: Five persons including three former students have been picked up in connection with the devastating fire that ravaged through Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphel during the intervening night of May 7-8.
The three former students were expelled from the school, earlier, at different times, informed a source.
Sources identified the three as Khoirakpam Joy son of Chinglen of Sagolband Meino Leirak at present staying at CP Lamphel quarter number 13 Type IV, Lorence Chhakchhuak son of Jirha Thanga of Chingkhaipat Churachanpur at present staying at Lamphel quarter number 24 Type IV, Damuching Golmei son of Gaikharang of Kakhulong Paona Bazar at present CP quarter number 10 Type III.
The two other accomplices are identified as Tokhalan Jow, 29 son of Hengjaching of Gangte Veng Churachanpur at present Lamphel ICAR quarter and Kailong Sanglien Gangte, 23, son of Bailong Gangte of Churachanpur Changlion at present Lamphel quarter number 13 Tyoe II.
A reliable source identified Damuching as the master mind behind the devastation.
He was expelled from the school a few days back and wanted to exact revenge, the source said.
It is also learnt that all five were pulled up by a team of the Lamphel Police this morning seperately.
Damuching was also the first one to be picked up by the police. He was picked up from his residence this morning.
Police have taken up a case against all five accused under FIR number 97(5)2014 Lamphal Police station under section 436, 427 of Indian Penal Code R/W 456/34 of Indian Penal Code and 4PD DT Act.
Meanwhile, it may be mentioned that an inferno had blazed through the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphelpat during the intervening night of May 7-8, causing severe damage to the school buildings and properties.
On May 8, State Chief Minister had inspected the school building.
Lamenting the incident, the Chief Minister had also assured all possible help to the school authorities in rebuilding it.
