Jiribam, June 25 (JNN): Jiribam units of four student bodies namely AMSU, MSF, DESAM and KSA have closed down government offices and schools as was announced earlier during a press meet on June 11. However, police unlocked the offices and schools later in the day.
It may be mentioned that on June 11, during a press meet, the presidents of the four units namely Y. Sanjiv Singh, President, AMSU District Commitee, Jiribam, M. Nilkamal Singh, President, MSF, Special Branch, K. Babulu Singh, President, DESAM, Local Council and U. Rojen Singh, President, KSA had announced that the since the government has failed to meet its assurance to fill the vacat posts for teachers in the sub-division, the student bodies will start shutting down government offices and schools including private schools in the sub-division from June 25.
Student volunteers today closed down offices including ADC Office and other private and government schools.
The leaders of the student bodies have stated that since October 25, 2013, they had an agreement with the Manipur Government regarding the lack of teachers, however, there has been no positive steps initiated from the Government side, and as such the step was required.
Further they added, if the Government fails to respond to the demand, further stronger agitations will be launched.
