IMPHAL, July 1: The Library and Information Science Students’ Association Manipur (LISSAM) has stated that no librarians has been employed in the government High schools (1529) and Higher Secondary schools (35) over the past 40/50 years.
In this regard, the association has held a meeting with the Union HRD Ministers about the current deplorable condition of the libraries and a memorandum was submitted as well. It further said that the ignorance by the government regarding the status of library in the state is unfortunate and requested that it would be grateful if MLAs and ministers would bring up the issue of library during the meeting of Vidhan Sabha said a release of the General Secretary of LISSAM.
