IMPHAL/DIMAPUR, Oct 25 (NNN): A rally to press New Delhi to expedite the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process will go ahead in Senapati on October 26 but the proposed rally of Dimapur on the same day has been deferred.
Naga Hoho sponsored rally of Dimapur was deferred due to `certain technical difficulties`. However, the rally of Senapati which will be organised by the Naga Hoho through the United Naga Council (UNC) will kick-start from 10 am of October 26.
According to a UNC source, the rally has been organised to press the Government of India to expedite the ongoing `Indo-Naga peace process`. Another purpose of holding the rally also to demand sincerity and commitment from the side of New Delhi in the dialogue. A Naga leader informed NNN tonight that arresting and detention of Naga `political leaders` by the Government agencies will only hamper the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process “and the rally is also against all these developments.”
It is worth noting that on Saturday the NSCN-K and the FGN/NNC had said the Naga Hoho, the Naga Students` Federation (NSF) and the Naga Mothers` Association (NMA) would be making a mockery of the `September Summit` if the October 26 rally of Dimapur goes ahead.
On September 18, NSCN-IM general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah along with NSCN-K general secretary N.Kitovi Zhimomi and their FGN/NNC counterpart signed a historic covenant for peace.
The NSCN-K and FGN/NNC had also said the proposed October 26 amounts to a sinister, vindictive and a colossal danger to the fragile Naga reconciliation process.
Meanwhile, after deferring the Dimapur rally, the Naga Hoho will hold an emergency consultative meeting on October 26.
