IMPHAL, September 15: A hand grenade was found in front of the Uripok Panchai Maning residence of Imphal Urban Co-operative Bank Loan chairman RK Mombisana Singh, 70 today around 10:30 am.
RK Mombisana was at his office when the explosive was recovered.
In a press meet held at the local club, Apunba Tengbang Marup advisor, Tourangbam Indrajit said such threat in a thickly populated area is unfortunate.
Leaving a hand grenade at a populated area creates a fear psychosis amongst the local populace, he lamented.
The press meet was jointly organised by the Apunba Tengbang Marup, Uripok Panchai Maning Club, Lai Khuirembi Leikai Club and Uripok Panchai Maning Women Development Organisation.
Indrajit continued that children play outside their residences and if the bomb had exploded it could have been devastating and traumatise the young children.
He said the grenade was later extracted by an expert team of the State police along with the Imphal Police personnel.
RK Mombisana’s wife RK (o) Sakuntala Devi appealed against disturbing the peaceful environment of the locality with such threats.
Even if there were conflicts in office matters, such violence should not be aimed at the family members she said and added this is the third instance when a grenade has been used to threaten the family. Sakuntala also sought clarification from all concerned behind the threat.
