IMPHAL, September 17: Lay more emphasis on your school activities and education instead of being too political, parliamentary secretary Victor Keishing said during the XXII freshers’ meet of the Tribal Students’ Union DM College of Science.

The freshers’ meet was held today at the Tribal Research Institute auditorium, Chingmeirong under the theme “Committed to Culture of Peace and Solidarity.”

The function was attended by parliamentary secretary Victor Keishing as the chief guest, DM College of Science principal Dr P Ranabir Singh as the chief host and Tamenglong A/C MLA Janghemlung R Panmei as functional president.

Speaking at the function, Victor Keishing pointed out to the students to be aware that the function was organised mainly to enable them to understand their own cultural identity and ethnicity and not because one is different from the others.

MLA Janghemlung during the function said not everyone can be officers or politicians but one can definitely be a good citizen by being honest, god fearing and contribute something to the betterment of their own district, state, nation and the world.

He observed students opting for their higher studies in the State should not feel inferior to those going outside for their studies.

Success comes only when one works hard, he said before adding that they should work harder not only to be successful but to also bring a better change in the State.

Other highlights of the day include cultural troupes of different tribes showcasing their dance forms.
