IMPHAL, September 26: Y Santikumar, 35 years, an Assistant Professor of the Department of Physical Education, Manipur University hailing from Kakching Mayai Leikai who allegedly threatened students of his department on September 5 over the mobile phone has been suspended for sending lewd text messages to his female students.
Irate parents gathered at the office of the Manipur University Students Union and held a meeting in connection with the incident.
Speaking to media persons, some students of the Physical Education department said they were afraid of what the disgraced Assistant Professor would do after assuming his duties again.
They also expressed their apprehensions about the consequences which would befall them after his return.
The students also drew the attention of the concerned authorities to take strong actions against him if he creates trouble for the students of the department again.
The disgraced Assistant Professor has made various phone calls to both male and female students of the department over the last few months, the students said.
Today the students took a firm stand to start agitations if the concerned authorities failed to take actions against the assistant professor if he ever again harasses students after his return.
