IMPHAL, October 18: The problem of heart disease in the country has reached epidemic proportions but the risk of heart disease can be significantly reduced through simple lifestyle modifications said Interventional Cardiologist, Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata senior consultant Dr PC Mandal.
Dr Mandal was addressing the media fraternity today on the various aspects of heart failure at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal.

Dr PC Mandal expressed that heart attacks are to be medically attended within few minutes of its attack which is still a dream in India as of yet.
He said that scientific evidence indicates seven risk factors which if addressed can significantly reduce the risk of heart diseases.
He identified the seven risk factors as smoking, cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, lack of exercise, obesity and stress.
