IMPHAL, Nov 2: Karang Island Development Organisation, Karang Apunba Nupi Lup and CADA, Bishnupur District Committee have jointly organised an awareness programme on ‘Intoxicants and its preventive measures’ at the Karang Island community hall on Saturday.
Speaking as a resource person, S Nimaichal, state partner of the Union South East Asia, New Delhi said it’s high time to watch closely whether students who consume odourless intoxicants are regularly attending school, learning their lessons well and eating on time. This will help prevent the widespread use of intoxicants.
Y Ratan, another resource person, stressed that there is an urgent need to discuss why the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 is not fully implemented and the Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act, 1991 has been violated.
During the awareness programme, the action of various government agencies transporting intoxicants inside the State was strongly condemned.
