IMPHAL, Nov 2: The state cabinet meeting convened this evening has once again failed to finalise the devolution of powers for the Autonomous District Council and deferred the meeting till tomorrow.
Disclosing details of today’s cabinet meet, SPF spokesperson and IFCD minister N Biren said discussion about road expansions in various parts of Imphal under various development schemes was made at the cabinet.
The cabinet also approved for road expansion for certain road in Imphal area like Leelasing Khongnangkhong to Khoyathong, Khonang Ani Karak to Leelasing Khongnangkhong, Fishery office gate Lamphel to DC office Imphal West, Leelasing Khongnangkhong to Fishery office Lamphel, Kangjabi Leirak to Maharani Bridge, Khoyathong to Kangjabi Leirak, Chingamathak Heirangoi road, Khagempalli, Kwakeithel to Naoremthong etc.
The cabinet also discusses on the issue of the primary teachers recruitment the enquiry report of which has been tabled but there has been no concrete decision. Biren however express confident that the matter could be sorted out very soon.
Regarding the proposed visit of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in Manipur, Biren revealed that the visit has been postponed due to hectic schedule of Sonia Gandhi.
The SPF spokesperson also revealed that the delay in conducting by-election of Konthojam A/C which is currently lying vacant was owing to the awaiting census reports submitted to the centre. The cabinet meet also resolved to request the election commission to make the election possible by November last or first week of December.
