IMPHAL, January 4: An art exhibition, entitled `Impulse`™ was kicked off today at the State Art Gallery, Palace Compound Imphal, organised by the Neo-Gene Contemporary Artist.
Altogether 25 graphic pictures and four Sculptures from 11 Artists are being displayed in the exhibition. The exhibition will go on for four days starting today.
Many artists including Khomdram Bonny, Chittaranjan Moirangthem, L Gandhi, Kh Jeo, Norendra Hijam, Kh Rojy Devi, Thompson Laishram, K Romee Singh, Millan Laishram, H Janison and Loveson Dangmei showcased their works in the exhibition.
In the opening function, archivist MSKA, Kh Bhubon Singh, delivering the chief guest speech maintained that artists should try to bring out their best works keeping in focus of the rich tradition and culture of the State.
He also said that artists should not rush for government jobs after finishing their studies. Economic sustenance is also important, but at the same time, they should also not compromise their art for the sake of it, he said.
Giving his presidential speech, Sarangthem Kula observed that the work of art being displayed in the exhibition exposes the pain and suffering in the present society of Manipur that have been subdued. The artistes have expressed that suppressed pain through their works in the form of painting and sculptor, he added.
