LAMKA, January 17: The Churachandpur District Council chairman, Langkhanpau Guite today handed over the keys of a recently acquired ambulance and refuse lorry to the CEO of Autonomous District Council, Churachandpur Ms.Manmuanching (MCS). During the occasion, N.Thangsuanpau, a visually impaired evangelist dedicated the ambulance and refuse lorry along with a solid waste transporter to the Almighty.
Speaking on the occasion, Langkhanpau Guite said the two vehicles will be utilised to serve the district in the areas of health and sanitation. `The vehicle was procured through the 13 FC. This will go a long way in promoting the cleanliness drive as envisaged by the ADCC. The transporter will be used to carry waste products to Imphal where it will be further recycled to be used for different purposes`, he added.
ADCC members who recently went to the national capital under the leadership of the ADCC chairman to meet the Union Minister of State(DoNER) Jitendra Singh and demanded that provisions of the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution be extended to the State were also present on the occasion.
District Council member Mangchinkhup Haokip told media persons that the Union Minister had assured to look into their demands while also stating that the ADCC members also met Union Minister of State (Home Affairs), Kiran Rijiju and other BJP leaders to register a complaint that that they are among those tribals who are not being given any safeguards under the various constitutional provisions of India.
During the press briefing, Churachandpur District Council chairman Langkhanpau Guite also stated that Central leaders have assured them that tribals of Manipur won`™t be deprived of the benefits when other neighbouring states are enjoying the same provisions under the sixth schedule.
