THOUBAL, January 22: A team of Thoubal Police Commando led by Addl SP Modhunimai has arrested a UG suspect during search operation in connection with the Republic day celebration at Heirok at around 4:45 pm.
The arrested person has been identified as Khundongbam Somendro, 22, son of Kh Piktru of Heirok Part-III, Lamlong Marifangba.
According to a police source, acting on specific information Somendro was arrested from his own house. His family members along with people of the locality tried to intervene saying he is innocent.
Police had to fire around 10 rounds in the air to disperse the mob, it added.
