IMPHAL, February 14: Launching a poster campaign demanding justice and the identification of skulls and bones found at the Tombisana High School Campus, Manipur Culture Integration Conference president Aribam Brajakumar Sharma said after the enforcement of Armed Forces Special Power Act, 1958, the state has witnessed several cases of involuntary disappearance of youths.
He was speaking as a chief guest at a function launching the poster campaign, organised by Human Rights Initiative located, at Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal, Imphal.
He further said 24 involuntary disappearances of youths have been recorded since 1980. Many of the cases are pending at the court, he said, adding that we need to be educated and aware of these sensitive issues to safeguard our young generation.
The multi-coloured poster was produced jointly by HRI and FIDAM.
