Manipuri Jagoi Marup celebrates 52nd foundation day

IMPHAL, April 4: The Manipuri Jagoi Marup (MJM), Lamboikhongngangkhong celebrated its 52nd foundation today at its premises with Uripok MLA L Nandakumar Singh attending as the chief guest of the function.

The MLA also launched a website of MJM during the function.

Speaking at the function he said that the incomplete construction of its auditorium hall will be completed well in advance before the next foundation day observation with his initiative.

Secretary, Arts & Culture K Radhakumar, IAS, attended as president of the function. He lauded the presence of Tagore Puruskar Awardee Devjani Chaliha in the function and said that it was his privilege to meet her in the occasion.

He further said that the sacrifices and devotions of Devjani Chaliha in preserving the culture of Manipur are remarkable.

He said that the coming up of cultural university in the State will provide higher opportunity for the young artists of the State to learn various art forms of the world in a campus.

He said the crucial part is though Nat Sankritan is recognised by the UNESCO there is no such profound institution or any authority to award bona fide certificates.

The foundation day celebration was also attended by Tagore Puruskar Awardee Devjani Chaliha as guest of honour. She said that she would have attended the function even she is not invited as guest of honour as she has huge respect for the Late Guru Amubi Singh.

She said that the Manipur Jagoi Marup will enhance the Manipuri Dance form from this shrine.
