IMPHAL, May 8: Due to likelihood of serious breaches of peace, disturbance to public tranquility and grave danger to human lives and properties in the whole area of Imphal East District including Jiribam because of unlawful activities of some anti-social elements for furtherance of their evil designs in the district, the District Magistrate, Imphal East District has prohibited assembly of five or more persons and also prohibited carrying of sticks, stones, firearms and weapons of any other descriptions or objects which can be used as offensive weapons from 6 am of May 8 to 6 am of July 7.
A press release of the District Magistrate said the order will not apply to the agencies of the government involved in the enforcement of law and order and the maintenance of essential services.
Furthermore, persons who want to take out procession, public meeting, rally, etc., within the area may apply to the District Magistrate of I/E for permission and they will not take out procession, meeting, etc, until the permission is obtained by them, it said.
