IMPHAL, June 14: Classic Hospitality Training Institute organized a one-day seminar on `Career Prospects in Hospitality Industry` today at Sangai Conferences Hall, Hotel Imphal.
Director of Tourism Department Shyam Lal Poonia; Chief Executive Officer, Tourism & Hospitality Sector Skill Council Praveen Roy and Managing Director of Classic Hospitality Training Institute Dr Th Dhabali graced the occasion as chief guest, president and guest of honor respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Shyam Lal Poonia noted that hospitality sector has immense potential to contribute to the economy and growth of the state and taking into account of its importance the government has been sponsoring hotel management course for aspiring students.
He said that the talents and personalities possessed by youths of the state in the field of hospitality can be groomed through the Classic Hospitality Training Institute.
After finishing diploma in hospitality in the institute, passed out students could get jobs easily in various private sectors as well as in the government sector, he added.
He also said that outlook of hospitality in the state will witness a complete change after few years.
Delivering keynote address, Dr Th Dhabali stated that the number of educated unemployed youths registered with the Employment Exchange is massive but the number of government job available is too minimal.
He said that educated youths should not simply wait for government jobs instead be self-employed without wasting time.
He also stressed on the need for private sectors to generate more jobs for the educated employed youths and make best uses of their talents and knowledge.
With the aim to let talented youths to get jobs, the Classic Hospitality Training Institute is opening various diploma courses as well as short duration courses in hospitality, he said.
Rajesh Ratnam, Government Sales Head, Northeast Region, Manipal City & Guilds and Kh Ranjita Devi, Centre Head of Classic Hospitality Training Institute were present at the seminar as resource persons.
