Imphal, Nov 22: In a major break through a combined team of Imphal west CDOs, 26 Assam Rifle and 12 Maratha Light Infantry and Imphal west CDOs, made a huge cache of large explosives and ammunitions during a a specificu raid conducted on November 20.
According to an official source the combined teame dur4ing th raid that had conducted at the areas of Lamphel Sankeithel abled to seized 20 numbers of Chinese made Hand Grenades and 69 live ammunitions of AK rifles concealed inside tin fish can from the possession of two over ground worker of the proscribed KCP Khaba faction.
The duo from whom the items were recovered , reported to be husband and wife, have been identified as Nongthombam Jiten, 42, son of late N. Ibohal of Khurai and his wife N. Bijenti alias Inaocha 42 yrs, of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai and at present staying at a rented house of one Ng. Mani of Sanakeithel.
While briefing media persons in connection with the seizure and the arrest at Commandos Complex, Imphal, the assistant commandant of 26 AR, Tarun disclosed that the achievement was made possible due to strict vigil and intelligence out put of 26 AR and 12 MLI.
While narrating the sequence of the operation the asst commandant revealed that on receiving specific information the combine team rushed to the area and recovered the items concealed inside tin fish can and also arrested the two persons who were involve in transportation of the weapons.
According to one of the arrested individuals they disclosed that disclosed that the sealed bombs and ammunition inside Tin Fish was handed to them on mid week of October by one Ibungo of the KCP Khaba group. The number of AK ammunitions was 119. Subsequently 15 days after they were handed with the items out some youths came and collected about 50 live ammunitions of AK.
