IMPHAL, September 11: Based on specific intelligence regarding movement of a UG cadre, troops of the 2 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with Thoubal Police Commandos launched operation in the general area of Khoirom Laimang and apprehended one PREPAK (Pro) cadre today, claimed a press release of PRO IGAR (South).
The apprehendee was identified as No 38874, SS Cpl K Naoba Singh, 24 alias Dhiren son of Late K Biren Singh, resident of Khoirom Laimang, Thoubal district. He has been handed over to the Yairipok Police Station.
In another operation, troops of the 45 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with lady police representatives from Heingang Police Station established a vehicle check post in general area of Pangei and apprehended one woman cadre of PREPAK on September 10.
The apprehendee was identified as Chonchon, 38 years, resident of village Nongkam, near Moreh, Chandel district. She revealed that she was distributing demand letters through over ground workers. Four extortion demand letters and currency worth Rs. 7000 were recovered from her possession. She revealed of her proficiency in distribution of demand letters through OGWs. The apprehendee along with the recovered items has been handed over to the Heingang Police Station.
Meanwhile, another cadre of PREPAK (VC) identified as No 356 (Batch No 6), SS L/Cpl, Chingshubam Lalit, 29 alias Nanao alias Chingkhei son of Late Ch Rana Singh, resident of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai under Heingang Police Station, Imphal West was apprehended by 45 Assam Rifles from the area of Koirengei on September 10.
He revealed that he was involved in extortion related activities in Imphal town to raise party funds. The apprehendee has been handed over to the Heingang Police Station.
