Convention exhibits state’s ancient flags

IMPHAL, Aug 21: A one-day convention on the theme “Identification of State Flags of the Ancient Kingdom of Kangleipak (Manipur)” organized by International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) was held today at GM Hall, Imphal.

The inaugural function of the convention was attended by education minister L. Jayentakumar, H. Ibotombi Khuman, advisor IPSA, and RK Nimai, commissioner of art and culture as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking at the function, education minister Jayentakumar stated that the people should study history thoroughly and try to preserve the age old culture and traditions of the state.
The ancient flags of Manipur should be identified after conducting proper research
and study on the matter, he said.

Manipur is potentially rich in sports and art and culture. The potentiality of the state has been highlighted over and again at the international arena by many outstanding sportspersons and artistes, Jayenta noted.

He also appealed to all to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Manipur at the present time.

A panel discussion was also held as a part of the one-day convention in which Dr. TB Singh, lecturer Oriental College, Dr. N. Deben and Mutuwa Bahadur, director of Mutuwa Museum, spoke on various aspects of the state flags of Manipur as resource persons.
