CHANDEL, October 3: As a part of week-long celebration of the 60th Wildlife Week Celebration 2015 under the theme `Living with Wildlife,` Tengnoupal Forest Division, Chandel organized a Mass Rally to inculcate love for forest and wildlife at Pallel today.
RK Amarjit Singh, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Tengnoupal Forest Division flagged off the rally from Pallel High School`™s playground which proceeded to Chandel Lamkhai via Pallel Bazaar.
A large number of students from different schools located in and around Pallel took part in the rally by holding several banners and placards inscribed with `Protect endangered wildlife, Let`™s make Chandel an eco friendly District, Plants siblings to plant your future, Save wildlife save our future, No forest no life, Shoot animals with a camera not with guns,` etc.
Range Officer Tengnoupal Y Amumacha, Range Officer Moreh N Tiken, Range Officer Chandel Sh Tomba Sharma, Range Officer Chakpikarong S Dhana Singh and other staff of the Forest Division also took part in the rally among others.
Speaking to media persons, Amarjit said that the rally was organized in connection with the week-long celebration of the 60th Wildlife Week under the theme `Living with wildlife`.
He said the objective of the rally is to give awareness about the importance of wildlife and to inculcate love for forest and wildlife to the young students so that they can dissipate the message of wildlife to others.
He further told that there are several cases of illegal smuggling of contraband wildlife products towards Myanmar along the Imphal – Moreh section of National Highway through Pallel. As such, Pallel was chosen as the venue for organizing the mass rally hoping that it will dissipate the message and awareness about the importance of wildlife to the general public of the area, said the Divisional Forest Officer.
