IMPHAL, December 5: A yellow card for soil detail has been distributed to select farmers during the observation of the National Soil Day today at KVK Hengbung today.
Around 250 yellow cards of soil tested by the Agriculture department and KVK Hengbung were distributed on the first world Soil Day observation today.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Autonomous District Council Senapati chairman ML Markson said soil is the identity and work of the farmers.
Stating that the KVK Hengbung has helped the farmers of the area including of Senapati and Hengbung, he further urged the KVK to continue with the effort.
He further said we should bring good progress to the KVK in the district to help the farmers of the area.
He said being the ADC chairman, he will continue to support the KVK in every field.
It is time to preserve and conserved the soil for future, Markson said.
JG Paul administration FEEDS/KVK-Senapati said that Manipur is a land of diamond and we should know the value of the soil at present.
He said that the soil which contains lots of mineral is limited resource and we are using it daily.
The soil is our identity and right now we need to protect it, he added.
It is our wealth and belongs to the farmers, he added.
Programme coordinator Dr N Joytsna said the KVK Hengbung will provide a facility to have spot testing of soil through mini-soil testing which cost around Rs 72 thousand and which can test around 100 perimeter of soil on the spot with direst result to the farmers.
She said that the yellow card today distributed is very important for farmer that this card has contain the detail of the soil value and we can monitor the field can need amount of urea and phosphorus for soil. And through these cards the government will able to know the amount of nitrogen and need of soil for it.
