IMPHAL, Dec 11: The Dialysis machine which had been remaining unutilised since long at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences has begun to function again from today, according to JNIMS director Laishram Deven Singh.
Speaking to the IFP, Deven said till late evening the machine was used on three patients.
The patients, he said were provided the service free of cost for today.
Considering the plights of the patients coming to the hospital, the service will be provided free of cost for some time, he said.
Along with the functioning of the dialysis machine, the Cancer Screening Centre of the hospital has also begun functioning from today, he said.
He further said that along with the developments, steps have been initiated to set up a 130-bedded Gynaecology department and to develop the Emergency and Trauma Centre.
All developments had been made under the initiative of the Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, he said.
