More than 7 lakhs job seekers in State

IMPHAL, December 11: The number of job seekers in the State as of October end this year stands at a whopping 7,38,619 persons.

According to a DIPR statement, a total of 7,38,619 applicants including 5,23,694 males and 2,14,925 females are live-registered in the different employment exchange of Manipur till the end of October 2015.

It said the report is based on the monthly progress report on the working of employment service, Manipur issued by the Directorate of Employment, Manipur.

According to the statement, Imphal West has the highest number of job seekers with 1,92,809 including 1,25,324 male and 67,485 female followed by Thoubal district with 1,24,578 total job seekers including 97,408 male and 27,170 female.

Imphal East district has 1,17,691 job seekers registered at its Employment Exchange including 82,992 male and 34,699 females, according to the statement.

It said Bishnupur has 70,939 job seekers including 52,566 male and 18,373 female, CHurachandpur district has 73,859 job seekers including 54,063 male and 19,796 female, Ukhrul district has 30,076 of which 20,925 are males and 9,151 are females, Senapati district has 61,665 job seekers including 44,367 male and 17,298 female, Tamenglong has 26,053 job-seekers with 19,640 male and 6413 female and Chandel district has 31,503 job-seekers with 21,457 males and 10,046 females.

The number of those registered under the Physically Handicapped is 2768 (1857 male and 911 females and under the UEI and GB is 6,678 (3095 male and 3583 female).
