Kangpokpi hosts community leaders consultative meet on peaceful co-existence

KANGPOKPI, December 14: A community leader’s consultative meet was organized today at Multi-Purpose Hall, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council on Peaceful Co-existence among the ethnic people in Sadar Hills, Senapati district.

The meet organized by Rural Youth Development Centre, Kangpokpi was sponsored by United NGOs Mission Manipur.

Thangkhosei Haokip, president, Kuki Inpi Manipur; O Nabakishore, secretary, UNMM and Dr Ngamkhohao Haokip, principal, Mission High School, Kangpokpi attended as speakers of the meet.

Khaimang Chongloi, general secretary, Kuki Inpi Manipur, Seikhomang Khongsai, president and N Sehjalien Gangte, general secretary of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, KSO Sadar Hills, TSA Sadar Hills and local civil body leaders also attended the consultation meet apart from various youth from different parts of the district.

“The solution of the ethnic problems in Manipur lies within us”, asserted O. Nabakishore and added that Government of India will not bring any solution to our problems.

He also said that when we sense any situation that only one ethnic community is incapable of protecting the integrity of the State it needs the various community’s leaders from all sections to put heads together and debate for our future solution.

“India’s ‘Act East Policy’ and China’s ‘Go West Strategy’ is not a mere trading policy in business but a trade of mineral which will tremendously threatened the peaceful co-existence of the ethnic people in the State”, pointed out O. Nabakishore.

However, the UNMM secretary elucidated that we are not against the development policy but we totally oppose the negative outcome of development policy which will render the people completely instable in the name of development and trade.

Stressing on the various ethnic disorder among the communities of the State, Nabakishore underlined the importance of dialogue among all community leaders to chalk out industrious solution to the various problems.

He also urged community leaders including church leaders of Sadar Hills to be a pool of resource towards the UNMM in bringing peaceful co-existence among the ethnic people.

Dr. Ngamkhohao Haokip lamented that insecurity is the key factor which perturb peaceful co-existence among the people while Thangkhosei Haokip, president, KIM averred that Kuki Inpi Manipur is non-political and encourages peaceful co-existence and justice for all.

The meet was closed with a prayer from Rev Y Haokip, Managing Director, Rural Youth Development Centre, Kangpokpi.
