IMPHAL, Dec 22: Amidst escalating crimes in the State, unidentified persons shot dead a non-local who runs a bakery at Thangmeiband Thingel Maru under Imphal Police Station today around 6.35 pm.
The deceased has been identified as Dimbasarao Bora, 55 from Tejpur district, Assam. The bakery is situated at the residence of one Nongmaithem Inaobi Singh.
According to reports, Dimbasarao Bora was in his room when some unidentified persons suddenly entered and fired a bullet in his head from close-range.
On hearing the sound of the gunshot, nearby locals rushed to the bakery and saw four persons fleeing the area in two motorcycles.
Nothing could not be ascertained as to which organization carried out the fatal attack and reasons for it.
The non-local was staying in the locality since the last eight years. Earlier, the bakery was run by his daughter and her husband.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident. The dead body has been deposited at RIMS morgue for post mortem examination, the reports stated.
