IMPHAL, January 4: The BJP Manipur holding Ibobi Government’s responsible for the sub-standard work that led to the defect in Ima Market, demanded a white paper on the list of contractors engaged in the construction of the market.
Speaking to media persons, Th Chaoba, shares his grief with the bereaved family who those who were killed during the quake.
Noting how badly the Ima Keithel had been badly affected by the quake to the extent that no one, Chaoba termed the incident very unfortunate.
It was very fortunate that the earthquake had not occurred in the wee hour when, he said adding that had the quake occurred during day time when the Ima Market is jam packed the situation could be much worst.
The BJP president holds the government responsible for the heavy damage cause inflicted to Ima Keithel before alleging that it had irresponsibly awarded the contractor works disregarding the safety of the public.
The Ima Market building is only five years old but its pillars were found heavily damage while its neighbouring building over 30 to 40 years stand intact, said Chaoba.
This is the clear indication that the contractors failed to maintained quality while building the market. The cracks on Minuthong Bridge, which was recently repaired is another indication of the corrupt practice embedded within the Congress rule, alleged Chaoba adding that such irresponsible act of congress has cost us our historic assets.
