KANGPOKPI, January 4: MLA of Kangpokpi constituency Nemcha Kipgen continued visiting and sympathizing earthquake victims in her constituency today during which the MLA advocated the importance of life rather than properties.
The MLA visited Kalapahar where 10 houses were damaged and Ghimiri Basti where a minor boy sustained injuries in the natural calamity.
The MLA was accompanied by Lamminthang Kipgen, Member of ADC Sadar Hills; Kaigoulal Kipgen, Sub-Deputy Collector, ADC Sadar Hills; Milan Pradhan, Kalapahar and several social workers in the area.
She also visited Chandraman, Dulen, lower Kalapahar, Kharkhola and Kholmun village where many houses were destroyed by the earthquake.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the visit, MLA Nemcha Kipgen said that all possible assistance and relief from her side will be provided to the quake affected people in the constituency.
She also said that assessment of damages inflicted to residential houses and properties is going on in the entire region and for this many relief teams have been deputed to conduct survey at block, tehsil and village level in the entire district.
The MLA directed the officers to ensure coverage of all the affected people in the survey report so that relief and assistance reach to the deserving affected population.
“Affected family whose houses have been damaged will be provided relief and help by the government”, the MLA declared, adding that the Congress government under the leadership of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh is fully aware about the situation in the region and is committed to providing all possible relief to the affected people.
MLA Nemcha Kipgen further said that there is a need to formulate and implement Disaster Management Plan effectively in the region to minimize the loss of life and property in such eventuality in future.
She underlined the need for creating awareness amongst the people about precautions and measures to be taken up in such natural calamity.
The MLA also paid tribute to the earthquake victim and shared the grief of the bereaved families.
Many affected victims in various places visited by the MLA expressed gratitude for her generosity and concern in the time of grievance and sorrow.
