IMPHAL, January 16: Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today called on the people from all the difference communities to contribute in building a stronger, prosperous, peaceful and harmonious Manipur.
Gaikhangam said if every individual contribute their best to the welfare of the State, Manipur would certainly be enriched.
He was speaking at the release function of Zelinagrong film “Papui Heng” meaning Father’s Sword.
The release function was held at the Hotel Imphal by Classic, Sangai Hall today.
Gaikhangam said the Zeliangrong community is today producing a good number of films which is an indication of development of the community’s art.
This will encourage the youngsters to put more effort for development of the society, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister further stressed on the need to encourage unity and love among the different communities of the State.
About the film, Gaikhangam said the script has been taken from a book written by (L) Leirenjao Remmei in around 1959.
(L) Leirenjao had written around 25 books many of which were stories and folk tales depicting the Zeliangrong tradition and culture, he added.
He was a meticulous person and a sportsman, writer, playwright, artist all in one, the Deputy Chief Minister said praising the writer.
It was under (L) Leirenjao’s captaincy that a Zeliangrong team lifted the CC meet trophy for the first time, he said and added that ever since then no Zeliangrong team has been able to bring back the trophy again.
The film is being directed by Dai Remmei and produced by Majeipui Remmei.
