IMPHAL, January 21: Social Worker, Heirok Assembly Constituency N Diten inaugurated the newly constructed Gate of Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi at Langmeithet in Thoubal district today.
BJP Thoubal District Mandal president L Deven Singh, social worker from Langmeithet M Khoidum Meitei, Manipur University guest lecturer K Bheighachandra Singh, social worker from Lourembam L Ningthemton, social workers from Salungpham A Amu and N Bor attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honours respectively.
Speaking on the occasion Diten said the elected representative of Heirok Assembly Constituency has flouted the norms of selecting beneficiaries of the Old Age Pension and has wrongly enrolled several ineligible beneficiaries just for some political gains.
This is unfortunate as the scheme aims at uplifting the living status of the poor elderly people, he said.
He said our leaders are addicted to corruption and has totally ruined the constituency.
Our people have been suffering for long, he added.
The gate which was inaugurated today was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 4 lakhs which was donated by N Diten in name of his late father Ningthoujam Kora Singh and mother N (o) Sanahanbi Devi of heirok Part III.
