IMPHAL, January 21: Angom Dipak Singh son of BJP candidate of Ningthoukhong Municipal Council Ward no 1 A Tombi who had been admitted at the Shija Hospitals and Research Institute was today discharged from the hospital.
Dipak, who was arrested by the Bishnupur Police in connection with an altercation on January 17 following declaration of results of the January 11 local body election was taken to the Bishnupur District Hospital on January 19 and shifted to the Shija Hospital yesterday.
Sources said he was discharged today after his health improved. Doctors of the hospital had conducted several tests on him including endoscopy, informed the source.
It may be mentioned that following the January 17 altercation, BJP candidate A Tombi, her son A Dipak and daughters A Aruna and A Sonia had been arrested and will be again produced before the CJM/ Bishnupur on January 25.
It may also mentioned that it was during his arrest, A Dipak was allegedly slapped twice by Commerce and Industry minister Govindas Konthoujam inside the police station which had created an uproar.
