IMPHAL, January 30: One day science based activities under Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan, Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India was held today at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Khumbong, Imphal.
The programme held was in conjunction with the 9th Annual Science Exhibition of the school. As part of it students of JNV Khumbong exhibited around 41 science models. Besides, extempore speech on contemporary science topics was also held both for junior and senior categories.
There was also an elongated lecture on ‘The Universe’ by Prof Ngangkham Nimai Singh, Department of Physics, Manipur University and Prof N Rajmuhon Singh, Department of Chemistry, Manipur University. A vibrant interaction with the students followed with students posing several science related queries to the two resource persons.
According to the JNV, Khumbong Principal, N Dhiren, “Rastriya Avishkar Abhiyan is a scheme recently launched by the HRD Ministry to provide support to students in the field of Mathematics, Science and Technology towards encouraging students in these fields.”
He also added that it is a convergent framework to nurture the spirit of enquiry and creativity, love for science and mathematics and to infuse the use of technology. The idea is to support and mentor the students who show inclination and talent in these aspects to further their excellence and research, he said.
