Teachers’ Science Congress held

IMPHAL, February 2: A State Level Teachers’ Science Congress organized by Manipur Science & Technology Council Central (MASTEC) (catalyzed & supported by NCSTC, DST, Government of India) at Manipur Science Centre, Takyelpat today.

Delivering his chief guest speech, former vice chancellor of Manipur University, Prof C Amuba Singh said that teachers have become target for criticism from various people in open platform these days.

Welcoming positive criticism, he said that a negative one could discourage and hurt the morale of the teachers, a result of which could be detrimental for the academic atmosphere in the state.

He appealed the people to stop criticizing teachers’ community which is not a healthy trend.

Underscoring the vital role of the Teachers, he said that they (teachers) not only impart education to students but also shapes the attitude and motivate them in becoming a good citizen.

Department of Science & Technology (DST), Director, Uttam Chan Laisram said that the aspect of teachers in building a good nation is huge and needs to appreciated and encouraged by all walk of life.

Noting the proposal of two new science centres one in Ukhrul and Churachandpur district, he divulged that the Centre has given his approval for the construction.

Spelling out projects on the card, he said many innovative institutes will be coming up within this year considering the interest of students and teachers, and added that the DST is trying to exhibit various things from time to time.
