IMPHAL, Feb 3: Stating that the government’s inaction on the long standing demand for conversion of Jiribam as a full-fledged revenue district is unacceptable, the Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) pledged to launch different forms of agitation along with public till the demand is fulfilled.
In a press release, the committee said Jiribam being strategically located is one of the important places of the State which the government is well aware.
The government has been talking about the role and importance of the sub-division but never paid heed to the demand, it said.
The ill-treatment and attempt to tame the denizens of Jiribam by the government will no longer tolerate, it fumed.
JDDC warned of imposing economic blockade along the National Highway from February 10 in case the government fails to come up with a clear stand on the demand within February 9.
