IMPHAL, February 9: Lack of moral education in the State education system has led to the rise in crime rate, observed Centre for Myanmar Studies Manipur University director prof W Nabakumar today.
He was speaking at the first observation ceremony on “Moral Education Awareness programme” held at the Imphal College organised by the Manipur Students’ Federation as part of campaign on the theme “Eikhoi lairik Ningthina Tamshi.”
In his speech, Nabakumar said moral education should be an important part of a student’s education. He said developing the moral of a student is the most important aspect in character building.
This will help in developing the student’s character which will in turn help the society, he said.
He further stressed on roles of the teachers and parents in developing the moral of the students.
Nabakumar also observed that there are many academically good students; however, these students when they become academicians who are not morally strong will only harm the society.
Students who are morally good will help develop a good society, he added.
MSF president O Nandababu attended the function as the president of the function, Pangal Students’ organisation president MA Wakil Alsari attended as guest of honour.
