IMPHAL, February 13: In a show of support to the Lok Jansakti Party Manipur Unit spokesperson Ningombam Ibohal Meitei for the 2017 election, hundreds of youth today took out a bike rally from Napet Tangjeng Village till Saiton Bazar.
The campaign was in support of progressive development in the Kumbi Assembly Constituency.
After the rally, a public meeting was also held at Saiton Bazar.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the meeting, Ibohal said the rally is trying to send out a wake-up call to the people of Kumbi.
Kumbi, he said, has been under-developed in almost every sector since many years.
There is no proper drinking water supply, the road conditions are deplorable, no proper health centres and the education sector is also in a neglected state in the constituency, he said.
Although the country has celebrated its 67th year of Independence, the people of the constituency are still deprived from walking on a black-topped road in their own constituency, he lamented.
He lambasted the peoples’ representatives of not responding to the concerns of the people and charged them for the abject backwardness of the constituency.
The elected representatives are only enjoying the developmental funds meant for the public, he charged.
He said he joined the LJP just to fight against such negligence.
He continued the communist party which was once undefeatable in the constituency has weakened and the people have lost all hopes in the Congress.
He said the 2017 election in the constituency will be a fight among the LJP, BJP and the Congress.
He further claimed that the youth force of the constituency wants to bring change and he will guide them.
