IMPHAL, February 20: A Core Committee on Formation of Kuki Political Party (CCFKPP) was constituted to form a new political party entitled as “Kuki National Congress” (KNC) in a meeting held at Kuki Inpi Churachnadpur (KIC) office yesterday.
The meeting was presided by Robul Pudaite Secretary CCFKPP and during the meeting it was unanimously agreed to name the political party for the Kukis as Kuki National Congress (KNC).
Further the gathering also agreed to conduct a mass political awareness programme.
The KNC will conduct a tour to Kangpokpi, Moreh and Singat at the earliest.
Committee convenor Dr Thangkholal Haokip said that a political party for Kukis was the need of hours. “We are forming this political party for the Kukis, so that we can fight for our political rights through this platform and according to the Indian constitution” he said.
The Kukis have their own political party call Kuki National Assembly (KNA) but people think that it is already a failed political party, he said.
At the same time, the name is similar to that of an UG group.
The party’s objectives, principle, ideology, party constitution, party leaders etc will be commissioned one after the other, he said.
He said every tribe can take part in this political party and there will be no favouritism or nepotism.
The committee convener further appealed to the general public to support and extend help to the party because people’s role is vital in the success of the Core Committee Kuki National Congress (CCKNC), said Thangkholal Haokip.
