IMPHAL, Feb 25: The Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) has appealed to the Naga Students Federation to lift its indefinite ban on movement of Meitei/ Manipur vehicles in Naga populated areas at the earliest, stating that the MSF will not remain mute spectators in case of failure to comply with the appeal.

Speaking at a press conference today at the MSF office, the student organisation’s president O Nandababu said the MSF strongly condemn the act of the NSF.

He continued that the ban is unfortunate and should not have been called; it is like sowing seeds of communal hatred among and the communities. He further appealed to all people against spreading any communal agenda.

He demanded the NSF should not try to spark any communal tumult in the State by imposing a ban on a singular community, instead of complaining against the government or its commandos.

He said the Manipuri commandos are not just from the Meitei community, but from all ethnic tribes and communities.

At the same time, the MSF also condemned the State government’s negligence on the issue, he said.

The State government or Police Department must take appropriate action against the any police personnel found guilty as charged in order to maintain peace and tranquillity among the communities, he demanded.
