IMPHAL, Mar 2: No arrests in crimes have been made so far on the basis of CCTV camera footage since cameras were fitted in Imphal City, Home minister Gaikhangam informed the House today.
Replying to a question from opposition MLA Bishwajit, the Home Minister said there is a plan to re-instal CCTV cameras in Imphal city.
This time 38 more sophisticated cameras will be installed, he informed the House.
The deputy Chief Minister also said that a total of 155 CCTV cameras were installed at various places across Imphal City, however, only 25 of them are still functioning.
Components of many were either stolen or lost, rendering the cameras non-functional, he said.
