IMPHAL, March 2: The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) has stated that Moiranghtem Shidharth son of Education Minister, Moiranthem Okendro and M (o) Sarita, a student studying in class 11 at Kendriya Vidyalaya, no. 1 Lamphelpat has been selected amongst 22 other students from across India to take part in JENESYS programme which was conducted to strengthen the bond between youths from SAARC country.
According to a release of SAARC, the programme has been conducted by Japan International Cooperation Centre (JICE) and will be held from March 6.
The Ministry of External Affairs selected the 22 students who are studying in class 11 for the programme from various regions of India and M. Shidharth was selected by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanganthan for Silchar Region. Only students who scored Grade 10 in the class 10 examination with an overall in all criteria were selected carefully. A total of 96 students from SAARC countries which includes, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will take part in the programme, it said.
The programme will include lecture class on Japan, panel discussion, exchange of opinions between members of local government, visits to local industries, discussion on environmental protection, cultural exchange programmes, workshop, report meetings, etc., it said.
It further stated that the participants will also submit questionnaires and reports after they return home from the programme, it said.
