IMPHAL, March 19: A day after a bomb exploded near the gate of the LIC Moreh yesterday, another powerful Improvised Explosive Device was found planted near the sentry post of Moreh Police Station.
According to reports, the IED was found around 7am from a drain at the foot of the brick wall of the sentry post.
A bomb expert team of the police retrieved the explosive and disposed it off, said the source.
Meanwhile, police have taken up separate cases regarding the two incidents.
However, the police are yet to establish who is behind the bomb threats and the reason behind the two bombs.
At the same time, two miscreants coming in a two wheeler lobbed a hand grenade inside the m/s Canchi Indane Service at Kwakeithel Tiddim Ground around 5:20pm today.
The grenade exploded in front of the gas agency’s booking counter injuring the chowkidar.
The injured identified as Thokchom Ranjit Singh, 57 of Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi Thokchom Leikai, was hit by shrapnel on his legs and left stomach.
He is admitted at the RIMS but was later referred to the Shija Hospital.
The police have also registered a case in this regard.
Meanwhile, the several organisations have condemned the bomb attack in front of the LIC Office Moreh yesterday.
A joint statement of the meetei Council Moreh, Kha-Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup and AMSU Chandel has said the attack is highly condemnable.
It has disturbed the peace and tranquillity of Moreh Town and creats distrust among the different communities of Moreh, it said.
The statement also said that people three organisations are very disappointed with the act and that the people of Moreh should be united in such trying time and should not allow or give opportunity to criminals to check or sabotage the pace of development in the town.
All the security agencies posted at the town are requested to check such unwanted incidents in the future, it said.
It further appealed to all concerned not to repeat such violence in the town.
Meanwhile, the Moreh Youth Club has also condemned the bomb and said in a statement that the club express strong condemnation and disappointment on the blast.
It further appealed to all civil organisations, individuals to help and support the social organisation like the youth club.
It has further urged all concerned not to repeat such incident in the future.
Meanwhile, regarding yesterday’s blast, the KSO Moreh block had imposed a bandh in the border town.
