IMPHAL, March 29: BJP MLA Thongam Bishwajit along with the BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson RK Shivachandra are campaigning for L Thoiba who is contesting the Assam General Election on a BJP ticket in the Lakhipur Assembly Constituency.
Speaking to this reporter on the phone, RK Shivchandra said the State BJP team including the MLA has been campaigning for Thoiba since the past three-four days in Cachar district especially in Lakhipur under Barak Circle, Cachar district which has a large Meitei and Meitei Pangal population.
Shivchandra expressed that they are quite hopeful of Thoiba’s victory as the entire Meitei and Meitei Pangal population have assured solid support to him.
He said the constituency has a Meitei and Meitei Pangal population of around 45-50 thousand and with their support Thoiba will certainly emerge victorious.
If Thoiba wins he will be able to represent the minority population in Assam in the State’s Legislative Assembly, Shivachandra said.
According to Bishwajit, his message for his campaign is to build up a unity among the different minorities including Meitei and Meitei Pangal in support of Thoiba.
He said his team has already visited the innermost villages in the area campaigning for Thoiba.
He added since the last two days, the team has been confined at Pala Boand, Ranipur, Ramjaijang Kabui Khullen and Lakhinagar.
The people of the areas have assured the team that they vote for Thoiba, he claimed.
He said that the team from Manipur has directed from Central leaders Northeast in-charge to continue campaign in Assam until poll days.
Jiri News Network adds: A BJP Manipur team has visited Lakhipur, Ranipur Baskandi, Pallarbond, Bagarpur and few major villages in Assam’s Cachar district during the past two days campaigning for L Thoiba Singh.
Thongju MLA Th Biswajit speaking at one of the campaigns spoke on the changes brought in Gujarat by Narendra Modi.
He also spoke on Narendra Modi’s probable interest in the future of the country.
Bishwajit said expectation of development in Opposition ruled States are always low.
