IMPHAL, April 26: The Food Security Act, 2013 will not be implemented properly and will fail to provide benefits to the intended beneficiaries in the State, asserted former minister and Manipur State Council Communist Party of India secretary Dr M Nara today.
Addressing a press conference at the Irawat Bhawan, Dr Nara said only the concerned officials, contractors and agents will end up benefitting from Act in the State.
He challenged that the government will not be able to properly implement the Act in the State.
Even the PDS was a failure in the State, he observed.
He further demanded that the concerned department should disclose the list of the names of beneficiaries of the FSA.
The incident at Moirang a few days before the launch of the Act in the State has shown that its implementation will be politicized, he claimed.
Dr Nara also spoke on the issue of the demand for conduct of viva-voce for the written test cleared Police constable candidates and said the recruitment process should be completed at the earliest.
The delaying tactic of the government is only inviting unwanted incidents, he said. Dr Nara said the decision to conduct fresh recruitment is only a ploy to earn more money.
The government should also recognise the role of the teachers of the aided-colleges and schools in the education sector, he said.
He further appealed to the people to exercise their franchise in free and fair manner to bring development in the State.
Dr Nara also congratulated Olympian Mary Kom on her accepting the nomination as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
