Strikes affecting academic atmosphere: Second topper

IMPHAL, May 24: The frequent bandhs, strikes and blockades in our State negatively affect the academic careers of our students, HSLC 2016 State second topper Naorem Suzanna Devi today media persons today.

Suzanna, a student of Nirmalabas School scored 570 marks out of 600 with letter marks in all subjects.

Soon after the results were out, Suzanna flanked by her parents interacted with media persons at their BSNL residential quarter at Wangkhei this afternoon.

Suzanna said she studied up till her class II at the Shantilata Memorial School in paona Bazar and shifted to Nirmalabas School thereafter.

Suzanna told media persons, she topped her class till class VIII; however, as her position degraded in class IX, she started taking private tuitions in Mathematics, English and Science.

She said although she was expecting to be among the top ten in her class IX final exam, she came in the second position.

Suzanna is the middle of three sisters. She is the daughter of Naorem Rameshwar Singh and Naorem (o) Sumita Devi of Kakching Khunyai Leikai.

Her father is an assistant director (Administration) of the BSNL and her mother works with the AIR Imphal.

She said other than taking tuitions and going to school she also studies around 4-5 hours daily when there was school.

Suzanna, who believes that everything is achievable, if one is hardworking, expressed desire to continue her further studies in science stream in the State.

She said she wants to study engineering and do space research.

Suzanna gave credit for her success to her parents and teachers.
