CSCM closes down DU & HE

IMPHAL, May 31: Even though the state Cabinet had announced shut down of educational institutions for three days beginning today ostensibly to preclude students’ active participation in the ILPS agitation, the BA, BSc and B Com 2nd and 6th semester examinations under Manipur University was conducted today.

Opposing the government declaration of holiday and holding of semester examinations, the College Students’ Council Manipur closed down the office of Department of University and Higher Education located at Keishampat.

Meanwhile, in continuing clashes with police during ILPS agitation, a girl student identified as Yaiphabi Nongmaithem of Oriental college was injured while four more students were picked up by the police. Students also held demonstration demanding the unconditional release of arrested student leaders.

CSCM co-convenor O Romen warned that if the Government fails to release the students by tomorrow, college students will take up stronger form of agitations.

He also informed that the police has arrested CSCM convenor Khaidem Dhanachandra along with three other volunteers.
