IMPHAL, Jun 1: Unidentified persons planted a hand grenade inside the building of Imphal Hospital at RIMS Road under Lamphel Police Station, Imphal West today at around 2.30 pm.
According to reports, the hand grenade was found near the Dialysis Room on the fourth floor of the hospital. A piece of paper with words ‘KCP (Thoungamba)’ inscribed on it was also found near the bomb.
On receiving the information, a bomb disposal squad of police arrived and retrieved the bomb. Later, the hand grenade was later exploded safely at a spot in Langol, the reports said.
Another hand grenade was also found planted by unknown persons at the premises of Deputy Director (Admn), Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Dr Y Rajendro Singh at Andro Khunou under Andro Police Station, Imphal East this morning at around 6.30.
After receiving information of the news, bomb experts of police arrived and retrieved the hand grenade which was safely detonated at Ngarian at around 10 am.
It may be mentioned that many bombs have been recovered from inside the RIMS campus in the past and a bomb blast was triggered at the residential quarter of Medical Superintendent of the institute, Dr Amuba Singh, recently.
