IMPHAL, Aug 5: A two year infant and a CRPF jawan were injured when a bomb exploded just outside the southern compound fence of the BT Park at around 5.45 pm today.
According to information culled from the spot, a large number of people were present at the nearby BT Park and many other people were moving on the adjoining roads when the bomb, suspected to be a IED, exploded.
109 Bn CRPF Head Constable SM Naik (48) from Uttarakhand sustained injuries as he was hit by shrapnel on the left thigh.
Leishangthem Mangaleima (2) d/o Inaocha of Kwakeithel Leimakhujam Leikai sustained injuries on the buttock and neck. She completed two years today and she was playing with her father when the bomb exploded.
Both the injured victims have been taken to RIMS and their conditions are said to be out of danger.
Imphal West ASPs Th Vikramjit and Dr S Ibomcha, CRPF officers and a bomb squad came and inspected the blast site.
