CPI celebrates 85th Foundation Day

IMPHAL, Dec 26: The 85th foundation day of Communist Party of India (CPI) organized by CPI, Manipur State Council, was held today at Kongba Ucheckon Muriba Shanglen, Imphal East.
The foundation day celebration was graced by veteran communist leader Moirangthem Ibohal, health and family welfare minister, Ph. Parijat, state secretary of CPI, Langol Iboyaima, MLA of Kumbi A/C, N. Mangi, ex-minister Dr. M. Nara, and state secretariat member of CPI, B. Sharma, as the presidium members.
Speaking at the function, health and family welfare minister Ph. Parijat asserted that the CPI has the SPF government not for gaining some undue benefits but for the welfare and development of the people of the state, especially those belong to poor and weaker sections of the society.
The CPI has been striving to establish an egalitarian society in the country. The party with its strong political ideology based on “communism” has been working for the people right from its establishment in 1925, he noted.
Parijat also said that the CPI favours the government that stands for the poor people and works for the poor people.
Ex-minister M. Nara stated that the CPI-Congress coalition is the most stable government in the state and not a single government in the past could complete five years’ term. The members of CPI have been sincere enough to work in the interests of the people.
The past communist leaders of the state like Hijam Irabot had dreamt of a developed Manipur based on the political principle of “communism”. The present communist leaders are following the footsteps of the past leaders to accomplish their dreams, he said.
Nara further asserted that the people should have trust on the leaders of the CPI and render utmost support in the coming general election so as to form a people’s government.
The state secretary of CPI, Langol Iboyaima spoke on the historical background leading to the formation of Communist Party of India and its movement in the state with special reference to Hijam Irobot’s communist movement which was once declared as unlawful by the then Government of Manipur.
