KNO demands infrastructure for designated camp

IMPHAL Dec 26: The First Battalion of the Kuki Army KNO stationed at the ‘Hermon designated camp’ located near Chehlep village underTengnoupal Block in Chandel district have complained that various problems persist in their designated camp even though, the outfit, a signatory of the Suspension of Operation with the central and state government, has already seek the government to attend to their problems which includes camp fencing, lack of water supply facilities, lack of infrastructure in the camp and black topping of the road leading up to the camp. 
This was stated by Amun, addl deputy commissioner KNO, while talking to mediapersons, on the sideline of the Christmas celebration at camp Hermon on December 25.
Pointing out the various problems faced by the KNO cadres stationed at the camp, he stated that there is no water supply facilities in the camp and had to rely on the Tengoupal police who has been providing water at the camp using water tankers, while the cadres depend on rain water harvesting during the rainy season. He further complained that during the rainy seasons, the road which connects the camp with the main Sita road is another big problem as the road becomes muddy.
Their demands also include a vehicle from the government side for use in emergency, a church and furniture for the cadres stationed in the designated camp.
He has further appealed to the concern authority to complete the yet to be finished fencing of the camp at the earliest.
Reminding of their previous demands, the additional deputy commissioner stated that the outfit had submitted a memorandum to the Union home secretary, GK Pillai during his recent visit to the state, calling on the government to address their various stated difficulties in the interest of the cadres of the outfit. Furthermore the outfit had earlier in a Joint Monitoring Group meeting had tabled the various difficulties faces by the cadres of the outfit at the camp.
Meanwhile the 137 cadres of the first battalion, KNO stationed at the camp alongwith the United Minority Liberation Front with villagers of the surrounding villages like Chehlep, Tengnoupal, Chahmol, Phaibung, Loikong Maring, Laipham Maring jointly celebrated the Christmas 2010. The cadres and civilians together played volleyball matches. The celebration also had various entertainment and interesting features along with a big feast.
The First Battalion of the Kuki Army KNO Cadres Hermon designated camp has also greeted all militant outfit affiliated to KNO (i.e 13 group) and the people of the state on the joyous occasion of Christmas.
